Securency International markets a unique polymer substrate used for the production of banknotes.
The RBA developed and issued Australia's first polymer banknote in 1988, thus setting a new world standard in banknote technology. It was printed by Note Printing Australia, a wholly owned subsidiary of the RBA. The base material used successfully for Guardian® polymer banknotes is produced by Innovia Films, the world's foremost producer of Biaxially-Oriented Polypropylene (BOPP).
